Damen and Praxis Automation jointly develop a new standard AMCS

Damen has teamed up with Praxis Automation to develop a new, standard Alarm Monitoring and Control System (AMCS)

This new system will be installed on all future built tugs, starting with the Damen RSD Tug 2513. Rob van Dam, Damen Project Manager Electrical & Automation Engineering, says:

We want to have an AMCS with the same layout for all of our vessel types. The main advantage for our customers is that they will have a modern, standard dashboard with the Damen look and feel, and importantly, with the same control philosophy behind it and direct support of Damen via Remote Monitoring.

Damen and Praxis Automation have worked with each other for decades. Previously they have defined the hardware for the AMCS but they are now working together to build the software side in the new Graphical Editor. Customer input and feedback over the years has proved invaluable. Mr van Dam adds that the new software system is modular, so this means Damen can easily adapt and update it to meet the latest customer requirements. The prototype AMCS is expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2017.
